cathedral of civitavecchia
Conservative restoration work on the main façade of the church of S. Francesco D’Assisi, cathedral of Civitavecchia and recovery of some annexed rooms. The façade of the type with overlapping architectural orders was built in 1769 based on a design by the architect Francesco Navona. The intervention involved the restoration of the plastered surfaces, the consolidation of the capitals and the stucco surfaces. The consolidation of the two seriously damaged travertine statues representing St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua was carried out using the insertion of fiberglass and ethyl silicate bars. The project also involved the creation of access for disabled people, through the recovery of a side warehouse of the church furnished with archaeological finds found on the site.
